INCOMING Vice President Sara Duterte plans to set up a fellowship with some former vice presidents of the country for a meet-and-greet.

However, this does not include current Vice President Leni Robredo, according to Duterte’s spokesperson Atty. Reynold Munsayac.

“No scheduled meeting with VP Leni before June 30. There is a plan however to invite all former vice presidents for a fellowship lunch in the coming days,” Munsayac said in a statement.

Duterte’s six-year term will start at noon of June 30. Her inauguration was held last June 19. She is the country’s 15th vice president after winning the May 2022 elections with more than 32 million votes.

Munsayac said Duterte plans to discuss with the former leaders issues like their allotted security from the Vice President Security and Protection Group (VPSPG).

She also plans to discuss with them the proposed Vice President Museum.

“This will depend on the interest of the former VPs and would need a common available schedule for all,” Munsayac added.

Last week the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) reactivated the VPSPG to provide security to Duterte and the future vice presidents. This unit is separate from the Presidential Security Group (PSG).

Duterte welcomed the activation of VPSPG as this will resolve the matter of continuity in security for all vice presidents of the Philippines.
