Sara firm against running for president
AGAIN, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio rejected the appeal of some supporters for her to run for president in the 2022 national and local elections.
In a Facebook post, Mayor Sara asked for understanding from her supporters and vowed to continue public service despite the local level.
According to Mayor Sara, who already filed her certificate of candidacy for mayor of Davao City, the position is not important in serving the people.
“Marami sa inyo ang nasasaktan, sumama ang loob at nawalan ng pag-asa pero pwede pa rin tayo magtulungan para sa ating bayan, di kailangan ng position, di kailangan ng tayo ay pangulo upang makatulong,” Mayor Sara told her supporters.
“Gawin natin ang pagtulong sa kapwa sa araw-araw natin sa pamumuhay,” she added.
The presidential daughter, who topped the recent poll survey, wanted to finish her third term as Mayor of the city.
“Masakit din para sa aking damdamin na sana’y magpaubaya sa mga kaibigan na hindi ko maibigay ang gusto ninyo. Gusto ko po sana tapusin muna ang huli kong termino sa mayor bago ako manungkulan sa ibang position,” she said.
It can be recalled that Mayor Sara decided not to join the presidential race because her father President Rodrigo Duterte accepted the nomination of the PDP-Laban to be its candidate for vice president.
However, it was Senator Bong Go who filed COC for vice president and that is when Duterte announced his retirement from politics. Duterte also disclosed that Mayor Sara is running for President.
But this doesn’t change the mind of Mayor Sara.
The filing of COC will end today, however, substitution is until November 15.
