SAN Miguel Beer snapped a two-game losing skid with a hard-earned 91-88 victory over the import-less NorthPort in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Brandon Brown finished with 24 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists, and June Mar Fajardo and CJ Perez added 15 points apiece as the Beermen withstood a determined comeback by the Batang Pier to finally barge into the win column in this import-flavored conference.

Marcio Lassiter contributed 12 points and Vic Manuel had 10 points for the Beermen, who nearly blew a commanding 27-point lead before escaping with the win.

Perez, who also had seven rebounds for the Beermen, was later named as Firefly “Best Player of the Game”.

It was the third straight heartbreaking setback for the Batang Pier, who played minus import Cameron Forte due to injury.

And like in their previous two setbacks, the Batang Pier did not go down withou a fight.

NorthPort came to within three points late in the game, but Robert Bolick and Jamie Malonzo missed their game-tying three-point attempts in the dying seconds.

Former San Miguel superstar Arwind Santos had a big game aginst his former team as he finished with a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds.

Later, Barangay Ginebra defeated Alska Milk, 80-77.
