IMPORT Bennie Boatwright exploded for 51 points and San Miguel Beer cruised to a convincing 132-110 victory over Terrafirma Dyip in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Boatwright, who took the place of Ivan Aska, had a monster performance with 19-of-31 shooting from the field while adding 12 rebounds in 40 minutes of action in only his second game for the Beermen.

The 6-10 standout of the University of Southern California Trojans scored 23 points in the first quarter alone to lead the Beerme , who have now won four straight games for a 7-3 win-loss record.

He added another 11 points in the second quarter for the coach Jorge Gallent-mentored Beermen..

“Just give all the credit to the coaches and my teammates, they were looking for me today,” said Boatwright, who managed only 26 points on 9-of-26 shooting and 16 rebounds in his debut against Phoenix Super LPG last Dec. 25.

Don Trollano contributed 22 points and six rebounds, Mo Tautuaa and CJ Perez added 16 points each, and Terrence Romeo had 12 points.

Javier Gomez De Liano led the losing effort of Terrafirma with 26 points on 11-of-16 shooting, seven rebounds and four assists in 39 minutes of action.

Import Thomas De Thaey scored 17 points and 17 rebounds in 38 minutes and Juami Tiongson added 17 points and five assists for the Dyip of coach Johnedel Cardel.

Rookie Stephen Holt had a solid game with 13 points and five assists.

Terrafirma dropped its seventh straight game and is now holding a 2-8 record.

Last Saturday, Meralco subdued league-leader Magnolia, 85-80, in an out-of-town agme in Iloilo City.

Shonn Miller delivered a double-double of 33 points and 22 rebounds and Chris Newcome added 17 points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals for the Bolts, who improved their record to 7-2 in a tie with Phoenix.

Magnolia import Tyler Bey was held to only 23 points by the tight defenhse of Miller..
