SAN ANTONIO, Nueva Ecija – Mayor Arvin C. Salonga has recovered fron SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes coronavirus 2019.

Salonga said he was confined for ten days at the St. Luke’s Hospital after contracting the virus last month along with his son Arvin Carl, 26.

He said he was swabbed on May 16 and tested positive for COVID-19 the following day.

The 50-year-old mayor was then admitted to the hospital on May 19 with his son, he added.

“Mild lang ang aking COVID, wala akong ubo at sipon, may lagnat lang na on and off.Hindi ako nahirapan sa COVID-19, pero sa sakit ko lang na asthma ako hirap, naubusan kasi ako ng gamot para dito,” said the mayor, adding that he inherited this asthma from the side of his father’s family. “Dalawang klase ito — ang skin at lungs asthma, kaya allergic ako sa sobrang alikabok,” he said.

“Hindi ako na-ICU dahil mild lang, pero matindi mga itinurok sa akin, pati sa pagkuha ng dugo, dito ako sa pulso kinuhanan na napakasakit,” said Salonga.

The mayor, who has yet to receive his anti-COVID-19 vaccine dose, said he got out of the hospital on May 28 and was surprised to find out that Gov. Aurelio M. Umali had already paid P1-million of the accumulated bill he incurred.

“Kaya mahigit P37,000 na lang ang aking binayaran na natira sa aking bill,” said Salonga, who thanked the governor for lending a hand.

The mayor reiterated his call for everyone to stay safe at all times and always practice social distancing and observe the proper health and safety anti-COVID-19 protocols like the wearing of face masks and washing of hands.
