SAN ANTONIO, Nueva Ecija – The municipal government here headed by Mayor Arvin C. Salonga is set to receive the “Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance Award” (SCFLGA) after passing the Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA) in Central Luzon conducted by the Department of the Interior and Local Government for 2021.

San Antonio was one among the six towns in Nueva Ecija of the total 20 local government units in the region which passed the CFLGA, according to the regional assessment results released by Karl Caesar R. Rimando, DILG regional director on January 18, 2022.

Also garnering the SCFLGA were the five towns of Bongabon, Rizal, Zaragosa, Llanera, and Gabaldon.

In her January 19, 2022 letter, municipal DILG officer Rowena S. Adriano informed Mayor Salonga about the LGU’s latest achievement as she credited the mayor’s leadership through his “Gawa Hindi Salita” socio-political programs for bagging the award.

“Napakahalaga na makapasa ang LGU sa assessment ng Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit sapagkat isa ito sa input o criteria upang maka-qualify ang LGU para sa Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) at Presidential Award for Child-Friendly Cities and Municipalities (PACFMC),” added Adriano.

Chiariety Mhea A. Baynosa, municipal DSWD officer, said the town passed all five “indicators” or criteria where the LGU was assessed based on the “five core rights of children” such as survival, development, protection, participation, and governance.

Overall, she said the performance of every participating LGUs is measured on the delivery of social services and other programs for the benefit of the child and youth sectors belonging to the under 18 years old bracket.
