Defending champion St. Clare College of Caloocan demolished Holy Angel University, 84-62, to remain as the only unbeaten team in the NAASCU Season 22 basketball tournament at the OLFU gym in Valenzuela City.

. Joshua Russel,Klint Manzano, Leenard Desabelle and Lex Gazzingan shared scoring honors for Caloocan-based Saints of coach Jino Manansala.

Russell led the scoring attack for the Saints with 12 points on 6-of-11 shooting, on top of two assists and two steals in almost 17 minutes of play.

Manzano and Desabelle added 11 points each while Gazzingan contributed 10 points.

Louise Andrei Lagman fired 20 points in a losing effort for the Angeles- City based Golden Guardians of coach Emmanuel Garcia.

Lagman went 8-of-18 shooting from the field, five rebounds and four assists in 30 minutes of action.

Jerlan Manaloto added 12 points and eight rebounds.

Overshadowed by St. Clare’s perfect start were Philippine Christian University, which bested Enderun Colleges, 52-48, for its sixth win in eight matches; and AMA Universities and Colleges, which overwhelmed Manuel Luis Quezon University, 92-78.

The duo of Dan Gelo Pascua and Christian Austria combined for 30 points to power the Dolphins of coach Biboy Simon.

Pascua finished with 16 points, seven rebounds three steals while Austria added 14 points and four assists.

Wesley Dulay chipped in with nine points and five rebounds.

Paul Malano paced the losing effort for the Titans of coach Pipo Noundou with 16 points, on 7-of-15 from the field in 24 minutes of action.

Jalen Garcia added 10 points while DJ Howe had nine points and four assists.

Reed Baclig tallied 21 markers on 10-of-13 shooting on top of nine dimes, five steals and four boards in 28 minutes of play for coach Mark Herrera.

JC Yambao fired 18 points on 6-of-12 in three-point territory while Nikon Alina added 15 points and six rebounds.

The Kings also got 13 points, five rebounds and four assists from Earl Bryan Ceniza and 12 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Asi Paul Placido led the Stallions of coach Joshua Nicolas with 26 points and eight rebounds in 36 minutes play.

Steven Gabriel Diño and David James Manriza added 16 points each.
