SACLEO nets hired gun boss, 164 crime suspects

CAMP GEN. MIGUEL MALVAR, At least 165 people, including an alleged leader of a gun-for-hire group, were arrested during the four-day implementation of the Regional Simultaneous Anti-Criminality and Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO) by the authorities in Batangas.

Batangas police director Col. Glicerio Cansilao said 45 of those nabbed have warrants of arrest, two are most wanted persons in the regional level; five most wanted persons in the provincial level; and five most wanted in the city/municipal level.

Reynald Jun Arellano alias “Baijing Musni,” the Top 1 MWP in the provincial level and the prime suspect in the killing of PO2 Wilfredo Pondoc Jr. of the Cuenca Municipal Police Station on October 4, 2018 at Sitio C5, Bgy Pob. 1, in Cuenca town was also caught.

About 40 drug personalities were arrested in buy-bust operations.

Seized were approximately 43.84 grams of shabu and 0.11 grams of marijuana, with a total value of P298, 125.

Meanwhile, 76 persons were caught in operations against illegal gambling, including illegal number games, video racing games, illegal cockfighting, which led to the recovery of a total of P18,955 in bet money.

Four were captured during the implementation of search warrants, including the alleged leader of the Bautista Gun-For-Hire Criminal group identified as Benjamin Bautista alias “Jamen,” 70, a retired government employee, and a resident of Bgy. Tilambo, Taysan town.

Bautista was arrested by joint operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Unit-Batangas PPO, OPD-Drug Enforcement Unit, 1st Batangas Provincial Mobile Force Company, and the Lipa City Police Station last October 21.

Seized were two cal. 45 guns, various types of magazines and ammunition.

Police said Bautista’s group operates in the province of Batangas.
