Sabong teller nabbed for ‘embezzling’ P3M
NOVELETA, Cavite – A lady teller of a cockpit (cockfighting) arena or “sabungan” here in Barangay Magdiwang is in jail and facing multiple charges after her alleged embezzlement of over P3 million was discovered last Friday night, December 9, 2022.
The suspect, a “sabong” teller and resident of Bgy. San Antonio Cavite City is currently detained after the cockpit supervisor confirmed during the auditing that the lost income of the cockfighting arena reached more than P3 million.
In a testament to the local police, the supervisor discovered during the auditing that a total of P3,781,330 were “missing” from the cockpit arena’s revenue.
Initial police investigation said that the suspect did not “remit” proceeds from the sabungan earnings.
Police filed qualified theft and other charges against the suspect.
