A “NOTORIOUS” drug den in Carmen, Davao del Norte was smashed by agents of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 during an anti-narcotics operation on Friday, PRO 11 Director Brigadier General Benjamin H. Silo Jr. said Monday.

The official said that the anti-drug operation in Purok 3-A in Barangay Sto. Niño in Carmen municipality resulted in the arrest of the drug dive operator tagged as a “high-value individual” (HVI) in Southern Mindanao.

Silo said that the operation conducted by members of the Carmen Municipal Police Station (MPS) also led to the arrest of two more “high-value targets” (HVTs) in the region.

All three suspects were described as “machine operators” who had long been under surveillance by the police for their involvement in illegal drug activities in their neighborhood.

Silo said that the operation led to the seizure of ten plastic sachets containing around seven grams of shabu worth P47,600, various drug sniffing paraphernalia, and the buy-bust money topped by a marked P1,000 bill.

The official said the HVI was the first to be arrested after selling drugs to an undercover officer. The suspect yielded two plastic sachets containing the so-called “poor man’s cocaine” and the marked money paid to him by the poseur.

He said that officers then raided the suspect’s residence-cum-drug den and arrested the two other suspects, who yielded more pieces of drug evidence, including improvised tooters and aluminum foils.

All three suspects are now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, said Silo.
