RAIN or Shine is back on the winning track.

After dropping a 112-113 decision to San Miguel Beer six days ago, the Elasto Painters recovered to roll back Converge FiberX, 122-107, in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

ArenaPlus Best Player of the Game awardee Gian Mamuyac finished with 14 points, three assists and three steals for the E-Painters,who posted their fifth win in six matches for the solo lead in Group B.

Adrian Nocum added 16 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, while import Aaron Fuller contributed 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Brandone Francis had 31 points and seven rebounds for Phoenix, which dropped to 0-6.

Jason Perkins also had a double-double game with 22 points and 10 rebounds.

Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao said fatigue may have caught up with the Phoenix import, who went 1-of-6 from the floor in the fourth period.

“We really had a hard time containing the import in the first half. So we just tried to work hard on making his shots more difficult, try to make him less efficient, ’cause we know he’s going to score anyway,” said Guiao.

“We feel that at some point he’s gonna get tired, at some point his percentages are gonna go down. ‘Yun nga, nangyari ng fourth quarter. Siguro napagod na rin siya.”

Meanwhile, Blackwater Bossing are gratefully harnessing the potential of their celebrated rookie Sedrick Barefield.

The Fil-Am guard, whom coach Jeff Cariaso had described as a “game- changer” before picking him No. 2 overall in the PBA Season 49 Rookie Draft, played a key role as the Bossing went on a resurgence after a 0-3 start to a 3-3 slate.

For his strong performance, Barefield earned the nod as the PBA Press Corps-Pilipinas Live Player of the Week for Sept. 3-8.
