HOUSE leaders led by Majority Leader and Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin G. Romualdez on Friday honored the wonderful life and solid contribution to the media industry of veteran journalist and Journal Group of Publications Editor-in-Chief Augusto ‘Boss Gus’ B. Villanueva who passed away Friday.

“I join the loved ones and friends of Mr. Gus Villanueva in mourning his passing. A journalist par excellence. His passion and commitment to bring the truth to light are exceptional. We extend our condolences to his family and loved ones. May you find peace in knowing that he is now back to the loving embrace of our Father,” Romualdez said. “The vacuum you (Villanueva) left behind will never be filled by one particular person.”

“Mr. Villanueva was a loyal friend and ally to my late father, former ambassador to the United States, China and Saudi Arabia and ex-Leyte Gov. Benjamin ‘Kokoy’ Trinidad Romualdez, through thick and thin and until the end,” Romualdez added.

Anakalusugan party-list Rep. Mike Defensor said “the death of Mr. Villanueva is a sad news to media industry that he served with utmost integrity and diligence.”

“We all grieve for losing him. My sympathies go out to the love of his life – his family, especially his children. Thank you for your service sir,” Defensor, a Quezon City mayoralty candidate, said.
