HOUSE Majority Leader and Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin G. Romualdez on Friday expressed his profound condolences to the family of the late Camarines Norte 2nd District Rep. Marisol ‘Toots’ Panotes, whom he described as an active member of the majority, dedicated public servant, and dynamic and highly respected senior member of the House of Representatives.

“We are saddened by the news on the untimely death of our colleague from the second district of Camarines Norte, Rep. Marisol Conejos Panotes,” Romualdez, chairman of the House committee on rules, said. “We condole with her family, relatives and friends at this difficult time.”

Romualdez, president of Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats, said Panotes was vice chairperson of the House Committees in Disaster Resilience and on Population and Family Relations.

She was also a member of 14 other big committees, including those on Foreign Relations, Basic Education and Culture, Higher and Technical Education, Banks and Financial Intermediaries, and Bicol Recovery and Development.

“We will surely miss her. May she rest in peace,” Romualdez said.

In a Facebook post, Rosemarie, Panotes’ daughter, said, “It is with deep sorrow to announce the passing of my mother Congw. Marisol “Toots” Panotes – a loving mother, a loving wife, a loving grandma and a good public servant.”

“Your prayers will be much appreciated in this most difficult time,” Rosemarie added.

As of press time Friday, no other details on her death were released.
