SPEAKER Martin Romualdez led the House of Representatives in offering sympathies and prayers to the Royal Family as they mourn over the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Queen Elizabeth, 96, was Britain’s longest-reigning Monarch. The Buckingham Palace did not state the cause of death.

Romualdez said he and the rest of the members of the House join the Filipino nation in offering our heartfelt and deep sympathies to the Royal Family, the government and the people of Great Britain on the demise of Queen Elizabeth II.

“We mourn the loss of great world leader who served as an inspiration to many generations of public servants in all parts of the globe,” he said.

“We will remember her as a gentle, yet solid rock of stability who exhibited grace and decency in performing her duty in times of crisis,” he added.

The House leader said Queen Elizabeth’s name will never be forgotten, and her memories as a great monarch will remain etched in our hearts forever.

For his part, Albay Rep. Joey Salceda described the Queen as a force of stability and a symbol of tradition in a rapidly changing world.

“For that reason alone, she has a singular place in world history. The people of Albay have a longstanding and historic relationship with the people of the United Kingdom. We condole with them deeply,” Salceda said.

Senior Deputy Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo said she was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

“The world will always remember her long and glorious reign. I will forever cherish Her Majesty’s advice and encouragement when we visited her during my presidency,” Arroyo said.

“My sincere condolences to the entire Royal Famil and the people over whom she reigned,” Arroyo added.
