Romblon LGU donates lot to CSC
GONE are the days when government eligibility takers from Romblon have to travel via ferry just to avail the exams.
The Civil Service Commission (CSC) and the local government of San Agustin, Romblon have sealed a deed of donation for the parcel of land that will house its (CSC) Field Office.
A thankful CSC chairperson Karlo Nograles, said that he will make it sure that the soon-to-rise 600 square-meter field office in San Agustin town will also have spaces for trainings, for learning and development and other interventions apart from examination site.
“Kami po ay nagpapasalamat sa very generous donation na ibinigay ninyo sa amin. Itong field office natin, mas accessible na para sa Romblomanons. We’ll make sure that we’ll have a space there for trainings, for learning and development, and for many other interventions,” Nograles said during the official signing at the Central Office last August 11.
San Agustin Mayor Esteban SF Madrona Jr. said that his administration decided to donate a lot in Bgy. Poblacion to keep his constituents from travelling just to avail of the eligibility test.
Madrona conveyed the difficulties encountered by examinees from Tablas Island, who frequently sail on a ferry to the main island of Romblon two or three days before the scheduled Civil Service Examination Pen and Paper Tests (CSE-PPT), which are done on Sundays, often resulting in instances of being stranded or stuck in the port.
The mayor emphasized that the establishment of the new field office in San Agustin, Romblon, will offer a more convenient and easily reachable testing facility, capitalizing on San Agustin’s position as the entry point to Tablas Island.
“Let’s hope na kapag dito na tayo magpa-exam sa San Agustin, we can cater to nine neighboring municipalities. Hindi na nila kailangan tumawid ng barko. This is not only a reaffirmation of San Agustin, I think other mayors within Tablas will also be very happy about this project. We are. We are really looking forward to this new CSC Field Office,” Madrona said.
Nograles said that the construction of the new field office will be next year.
It will stand as a symbol of the CSC’s unwavering dedication to the public good, benefitting not only San Agustin but the entire province of Romblon.
Aside from Madrona, Nograles was joined by CSC Commissioners Aileen Lizada and Ryan Acosta, CSC Regional Office IV Director IV Maria Leticia Reyna, and San Agustin Municipal Planning and Development Officer Concepcion Angela Quijano, in the ceremonial signing of the deed of donation.
