Rodriguez distributes rice, fertilizer to Bukidnon farmers
THE A TEACHER Partylist led by Virginia Rodriguez distributed rice and organic fertilizers for free to hundreds of farmers in Valencia City, Bukidnon, to further boost the province’s rice production.
Rodriguez, who was joined by Valencia City Mayor Azucena Huervas expressed optimistic that distribution of organic fertilizers, including her book entitled “Leave Nobody Hungry” will aid farmers in arming themselves with knowledge on sustainable agriculture practices and new planting technologies to increase production.
During the “Meet and Greet” program with the theme “Paglilingkod na May Dangal at Puso para sa Sambayanang Pilipino”, Rodriguez told the beneficiaries and participants that her advocacy is to help empower local farmers to lead a self-sufficient and good quality of life.
“I am also encouraging the youth to venture into agriculture so that moving forward, more people will realize that agriculture is an industry that has sustained us and our needs for years,” Rodriguez said.
The lady philanthropist who is also the third nominee of A TEACHER Partylist No. 137 said that ensuring food security is possible to achieve if stakeholders from different sectors will work together towards a sustainable solution.
Rodriguez also expressed confidence that not only the agriculture department but other agencies across all other concerned sectors will be at hand to extend assistance and join together to ensure that our farmers get all the support they need to continue improving their productivity and income.
The distribution of organic fertilizers is also meant to expand production areas to eventually increase the volume of the farmers harvest, she added.
