SAN Jose Del Monte (SJDM) City, Bulacan Rep. Florida “Rida” P. Robes and her husband, SJDM Mayor Arthur Robes have filed their certificates of candidacy (COC) for re-election before the city’s Commission on Elections (Comelec) office.

The Robes couple vowed to continue implementing their pro-poor programs for their constituents, especially the intensified campaign against coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic.

They are both running under the administration party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).

Also, Kusug Tausug party-list Rep. Shernee Tan-Tambut filed her certificate of nomination and acceptance (CONA) at Sofitel-Philippine Plaza’s Comelec office.

Tan-Tambut, daughter of the current governor of Sulu and veteran politician Abdusakur M. Tan, has served as first nominee of Kusug Tausug since the party list was formed in 2016 to hasten the inclusive growth of the Tausugs, the natives of Sulu and TawiTawi. The party list’s name means ” strength of the Tausugs”.

She said that her strongest desire is to continue to help give the poorest of our people a fighting chance to improve their lives.

The congresswoman clarified that although her party list is most identified with Sulu, Kusug Tausug’s broad vision is to give protection to the most marginalized of Philippine society, particularly the Muslims. To prove her point, Tan-Tambut cited that most of the 66 House bills and resolutions she authored or co-authored in the 17th and 18th Congresses intended to alleviate the living conditions of our country’s poorest.

These bills include institutionalizing the 4-P’s Program, granting monthly honorarium to barangay health workers, and creating a national vision services program for senior citizens, in the 17th Congress.

Among the bills she co-authored in the 18th Congress are the bill increasing the salaries of government personnel, which was approved as RA 11466, the bill providing compensation to qualified victims of the Marawi seige, and the 2 Bayanihan laws to provide economic stimulus to the country during this pandemic.

Tan-Tambut’s diverse projects include improvement of community and barangay roads in Sulu, airport and seaport improvements, medical assistance for patients in the BARMM, Zamboanga City and Metro Manila, health facilities enhancement for Sulu and Zamboanga City hospitals, emergency employment, skills training and educational assistance, and food and burial assistance for the destitute.
