BATAAN Police Acting Director Col. Romell Velasco on Friday reported the arrest of a holdup suspect in Limay.

In a report by Limay Police Chief Maj. Gerald Bautista, the male victim, said, together with his wife and their daughter, alighted from their vehicle and was about to open the gate of their house on P. Enriquez St. in Barangay Townsite, Limay, Bataan, when two suspects suddenly appeared and pointed a gun at them.

The victim said the suspects forcibly took his wife’s handbag containing at least P160,000, an Apple iPhone 7 Plus cellphone, and a gold necklace worth P40,000 before they fled on a motorcycle.

In a follow-up operation, the police obtained CCTV (closed-circuit television) footage showing that aside from the motorcycle used by the suspects, another getaway vehicle was also used by the suspects to transfer upon reaching Bgy. Alangan.

Police later identified the vehicle as a Nissan Almera and found out it was a rented Grab car.

The Grab driver and owner of the Nissan Almera, of Martinez St., Mandaluyong City, contacted the person who rented it since it was not returned yet.

The police proceeded to Mandaluyong City, where the vehicle was found in possession of one of the suspects, and arrested him.
