
Road crash kills Eastern Samar priest
TACLOBAN CITY – A Roman Catholic priest on Wednesday died in a vehicular accident in Llorente, Eastern Samar.
The Diocese of Borongan expressed sorrow over the passing of Fr. Alejandro “Alex” Galo, 66, “who tragically lost his life in a vehicular accident.”
He was driving his motorcycle along the highway in Naubay village in Llorente town when hit by a sports utility vehicle (SUV).
Fr. Galo, a native of Maydolong, Eastern Samar, was the head of commission on church properties and commission on church cemeteries in the Diocese of Borongan.
The priest suffered multiple injuries that caused his death at the crash site.
The SUV driver is now under the custody of the local police.
“We ask for your prayers during this difficult time as we honor the life and legacy of a remarkable servant of God. Details regarding the wake masses and burial will be communicated shortly,” Diocese Chancellor Fr. James Abella said.
“Let us come together in prayer, remembering Fr. Alex in our hearts and asking for God’s comfort for all who mourn his loss,” Abella added. Philippine News Agency
