Rider held in Gapan City drug buy-bust
GAPAN CITY — A delivery service rider with alleged links to a drug source inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) was arrested during an operation against illegal drugs conducted here on Friday.
City police head Lt. Col. Wilmar M. Binag said the 40-year-old suspect, said to be a Lalamove rider, of General Tiburcio De Leon, Valenzuela City, was nabbed in Bgy. San Roque here at 6:30 a.m. after undercover operatives led by Major Jimmy S. Mananguit were able to buy from him two plastic sachets of shabu worth P10,000, using a genuine P1,000 bill, and nine pieces of P1,000 boodle money.
Confiscated from the suspect were three plastic sachets containing shabu weighing more or less 56 grams with a street value of P380,800.
Binag said the arrested suspect is now tagged as a “high-value individual” after the total amount of illegal drugs seized from him weighed more than 50 grams.
Binag said the seized illegal drugs were said to be sourced from inside the NBP with the arrested suspect allegedly serving as the “runner” or “drug courier.”
“Siya ang runner ng taga-Bilibid, kasi yung ka-transaksyon natin eh nasa Bilibid,” the police official told the Journal Group in a text message.
The arrested suspect is now under custody of the city police and facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, added Binag.
