ALL holders of driver’s license which will expire on the 24th of this month can still drive without the fear of apprehension and charges from violation of driving with an expired license.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has extended the validity of the license up to October 31 this year and at the same time waived any penalties arising from the offense on concerned drivers.

LTO chief Assistant Secretary Jay Art Tugade on Friday signed a memorandum circular that stretches the validity to said date or as soon as the (driver’s license) cards become available for distribution.

The MC also covers the waiving of penalties on late renewals of motor vehicles.

LTO law enforcers and deputized agents are instructed to carry out the directive and spare in the moment drivers with expired licenses until such time a new order comes out.

“All holders of driver’s license cards expiring 24 April, 2023 onwards shall no longer be required to renew their licenses until October 31, 2023 or as soon as the driver’s license cards become available for distribution to the public,” the MC stated.

The directive came after the agency experienced a problem in the procurement process that resulted in the shortage of the supply of plastic license cards in all its offices nationwide.

He promised that the printing of plastic cards will follow immediately upon instruction of the Department of Transportation (DoTR).

“Nagdesisyon ang LTO na gawin ang hakbang na ito dahil ayaw naming ng dagdag na abala sa ating mga motorist. Makaka-asa ang publiko na marami pa pong mga hakbang ang LTO para sa kapakanan ng publiko,” Tugade stressed.
