DEPUTY Speaker and Las Pinas City Rep. Camille Villar has graced the inauguration of the new building of the Las Piñas General Hospital and Satellite Trauma Center (LPGHSTC).

The building will provide at least 500 bed capacity upgrade for the Las Piñas General Hospital as accessible and quality health services are essential for Filipino families.

“Mahalaga ang pagkakaroon ng maayos at fully-equipped na mga ospital at medical facilities na accessible para sa ating mga kababayan na may sakit,” Villar said.

Villar, a senatorial candidate, also said government health services must be in place to ensure the health and well-being of Filipinos.

“Responsibilidad ng pamahalaan ang pagpapatupad ng kalidad na mga health programs na tumutugon at magsisiguro ng kalusugan ng bawat pamilyang Pilipino,” the lady lawmaker said.

The additional 12-storey, state-of-the-art, and fully-equipped hospital building has a 500 bed capacity. It’s construction was mandated under Republic Act No. 11497, which Villar authored and championed in the House of Representatives.

Aside from increasing the hospital’s bed capacity, RA 11497 also upgraded its professional health care services and increased its workforce, including doctors, nurses and support staff.

The expansion of the health facility is expected to cater to patients in southern Metro Manila, and nearby cities and municipalities of Cavite.

Dr. Ignacia Guia Fajardo, LPGHSTC medical director, thanked Villar and her mother and brother – Senators Cynthia and Mark Villar – for their “unwavering commitment and leadership” to secure the needed funding for the improvement of the hospital.

The provision of quality health services is a priority program of Villar, who is running for senator.

Villar vows to be a “new voice” in the Senate and push for innovative and forward-looking measures to address challenges in the health, education, housing, women and business sectors.
