INCOMING Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla on Thursday met with outgoing Secretary Menardo Guevarra to discuss the DOJ’s (Department of Justice) transition process to the next administration.

Emerging from the meeting, Remulla admitted that the job of a Justice Secretary is “no walk in the park”.

“Sa first meeting ngayon, we might ask for a second one kasi masalimuot talaga ang problema ng sistema na kailangan natin isaayos. At talaga nakakatuwa naman na bigyan kami ng impormasyon na ukol sa mga suliranin na sumasambalot sa ating hustisya.”

“Imagine 11 agencies kasama sa DOJ family, so walang simple. So wala isang tanong na puwede masagot, or isang sagot sa tanong na yan,” Remulla said.

The DOJ has a mandate over its attached agencies, such as the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor), Bureau of Immigration (BI), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Parole and Probation Administration (PPA), Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG), Public Attorney’s Office (PAO), Office for Alternative Dispute Resolution (OADR), Office of the Government Corporate Counsel (OGCC), Office of the Solicitor General (OSG), Land Registration Authority (LRA), and National Prosecution Service (NPS).

Remulla has accepted the offer to become justice secretary of president-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

He admitted that as a lawyer, “it’s a huge opportunity and challenge to serve the country as head of the DOJ.”

Remulla ran unopposed as Cavite congressman in the province’s 7th congressional district.
