PHIILPPINE National Police chief Gen. Rommel Francisco D. Marbil has awarded the PNP Medalya ng Katapangan or the PNP Medal of Bravery, which is the 4th highest award in the force, to the police officers and men led by Police Regional Office 11 director Brig. Gen. Nicolas D. Torre who tirelessly worked for two weeks in order to capture wanted Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy.

Apart from Torre, other officials who received the award were PRO11 Deputy Regional Director for Administration Brig. Gen. Dionisio B. Bartolome Jr., Davao City Police Office director Col. Hansel M. Marantan, Col. Ryan Bobby C. Paloma of the PNP Intelligence Group, PRO11 officials, Colonels Rannie P. Hachuela, Roel DR Flores, Lito E. Patay and Rolindo M. Suguilon and Maj. Jannah Rose T. Parcon, Col. Obil S. Dahap Jr. of the PNP Legal Service and Col. Rex Arvin T. Malimban of the PNP Special Action Force.

The above-named police officers were cited for their gallantry in action as Task Group Commanders, Ground Commanders, Tactical/Assaulting/Arresting Team Commanders, Sector Supervisors, Intelligence, Investigation and Legal Team Leaders.

“As dedicated members of PRO11 and Support Units, they demonstrated bravery during the successful execution of Oplan Teknon from August 24, 2024 to September 8, 2024 at the Kingdom of Jesus Christ Compound, Japan-Philippines Friendship Highway, Davao City, which ultimately resulted in the arrest of Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy and four other individuals for violations of Section 5(b) or Republic Act 7610, R.A. 9208 as amended by RA 10364 (Human Trafficking) and R.A. 3815 (rape).

This exceptional skills, commitment and courage displayed by the aforementioned PNP personnel brought honor and pride not only for themselves but also to the entire PNP organization,” read the award from Marbil signed by PNP Chief Directorial Staff Lt. Gen. Jon A. Arnaldo and PNP Director for Personnel and Records Management Maj. Gen. Sidney S. Hernia.

Other officers and men of the more than 2,000-strong force that secured the KOJC compound and got ready to storm their Bible School last Sunday prompting Quiboloy and his co-accused to emerge from their hiding place will also be awarded for their role in the successful operation.

The PNP Medalya ng Katapangan is equivalent to the Gold Cross Medal of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Journal Group sources said that prior to the arrest of Quiboloy, Torre forwarded the following message to his lawyer:

“Boss good morning. Kamusta? Just to inform you na all gloves are off na tayo ha. Si Sen. Bato na mismo nagsabi na dapat armado ang searchers so please expect it, especially the SAF and the SWAT. At lahat na haharang ay aarestuhin namin sir. Pasensya na po talaga. Tapos na ang pagbibigay. Salamat boss. Good luck and God bless us all…”

That message was believed to have send shivers down the spine of Quiboloy and company leading to their decision to leave their Bible School hiding place to be arrested by the police.

On Wednesday, Gen. Marbil flew to Davao City to congratulate his officers and men.
