Lookout bulletin for controversial pastor out soon

THE Department of Justice (DOJ) said it may now issue an immigration lookout bulletin order (ILBO) for controversial televangelist Apollo Quiboloy due to the ongoing Senate investigation.

“Since it’s now an ongoing investigation, the DOJ can now issue an [ILBO],” Senior State Counsel Mary Grace Quintana said during the latest hearing of the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality, chaired by Senator Risa Hontiveros.

The Hontiveros-led panel is looking into allegations of human trafficking, rape, and sexual and physical abuse within Quiboloy’s Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) church.

Quintana, however, clarified that the ILBO is “not intended to prevent the subject from departing the country” but rather serves as a means of monitoring the individual named in the order.

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) stated that there are no records of Quiboloy departing from the Philippines.

BI Legal Division chief Arvin Cesar Santos made this statement in response to inquiries regarding a news report suggesting Quiboloy had traveled to China.

“Wala po sa records namin ‘yon… Based on our records po, as of to date, ang last pa po na flight ni Apollo Quiboloy po ay dumating po siya noong July 22, 2023. So based on our records, nandito po siya,” Santos informed the Senate panel.

Hontiveros announced that her committee anticipates Quiboloy’s attendance at its third public hearing now that the subpoena issued against the KOJC leader has been officially signed by Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri.

“Ang subpoena, it’s stronger than an invitation. Kailangan sundin niya, i-heed niya yung subpoena,” Hontiveros said.

The Hontiveros panel has yet to announce the schedule of the next hearing.

The House of Representatives has also issued a subpoena to Quiboloy to ensure his attendance at the committee hearing discussing a bill aimed at revoking the legislative franchise of Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI) due to multiple violations.

SMNI is a broadcast network believed to be owned by the televangelist.
