QUIBOLOY QUIZ PRESSED
GABRIELA Women’s Party Representative Arlene Brosas has urged the Department of Justice (DoJ) to expedite its investigation into troubled televangelist Apollo Quiboloy.
Brosas said the DoJ should already be conducting its own probe and working on Quiboloy’s possible extradition to the United States (US) where he is facing “appalling crimes” attributed to him and his religious organization Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
“Anong ginagawa ng DoJ?” Brosas inquired. “Kailangan niyang (Quiboloy) harapin itong mga reklamo na ito na alam natin ipinagsawalang-bahala noong panahon ng Duterte administration.”
Brosas argued that the previous administration deliberately disregarded the charges, pointing to Quiboloy’s close association with former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Quiboloy is under indictment in the U.S. on charges of criminal conspiracy, including sex trafficking, child sex trafficking, money laundering, marriage and visa fraud, and other federal offenses.
“The (Philippine) government must immediately extradite Quiboloy,” Brosas stressed.
Quiboloy had earlier dismissed the accusations as fabricated and claimed religious and political persecution.
He also challenged the U.S. government to disclose all evidence against him, asserting that he is “bulletproof.”
In 2022, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released a “most wanted” poster for Quiboloy.
As per the FBI’s official website, Quiboloy is sought in the U.S. for his alleged participation in a labor trafficking scheme.
This scheme purportedly entailed bringing church members to the U.S. using fraudulently obtained visas, compelling them to solicit donations for a fictitious charity.
These funds allegedly supported church operations and the lavish lifestyles of its leaders.
Confirming the severity of the charges, the FBI disclosed the issuance of a federal warrant for Quiboloy’s arrest on Nov. 10, 2021.
