Quezon gunrunner linked to illegal drug trade nabbed

PHILIPPINE National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) Director Brigadier General Romeo M. Caramat Jr., on Friday, announced the arrest of a suspected member of a gunrunning and drug trafficking gang in Quezon province during an operation in Candelaria municipality.

The official said the 63-year-old suspect, described as a member of the “Calualhatian Criminal Group,” was arrested inside his residence in Barangay Masin Sur in Candelaria, Quezon on Tuesday morning.

Caramat said that members of the CIDG Quezon Provincial Field Unit (PFU) and the local police raided the suspect’s house on the strength of a search warrant for violation of the Republic Act (RA) 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 issued by Lucena City Executive Judge Agripino Bravo last April 14.

Recovered were two caliber .45 semi-automatic pistols, three .45 magazines, and 15 cal. .45 ammunition.

Caramat said that the suspect will be facing charges for violation of RA 10591.
