QCPD’s anti-crime drive jail over 400 lawbreakers this month
NATIONAL Capital Region Police Office director, Brigadier General Anthony A. Aberin yesterday commended the Quezon City Police District for hauling to jail over 400 lawbreakers in the city this month alone amid their stepped-up anti-criminality campaign in Metro Manila.
The Metro Manila police chief in particular lauded the dedication of the QCPD headed by Colonel Melecio M. Buslig Jr. in carrying out their duties and responsibilities to keep Q.C. safe round-the-clock by going all-out against wanted persons, drug personalities and illegal guns that could be used as an ‘instrument of violence’ in the streets ahead of the May 12 National and Local Elections.
“Crime prevention always starts with an effective enforcement of discipline and order in the community. As we continuously hunt lawless elements who threaten peace and security, we will also simultaneously address minor peace and safety issues to foster a highly favorable security landscape in Metro Manila,” Brig. Gen. Aberin said.
From January 19 to 25, the QCPD accounted for 214 of their targets including 64 wanted persons and 77 suspected drug personalities.
Also apprehended during the period were 69 illegal gambling personalities and 4 others for illegal possession of firearms in violation of the Comelec-imposed gun ban and Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013.
The 48 anti-drug operations conducted by the QCPD during the period also resulted in the seizure of nearly P2.4 million worth of illegal drugs.
On the other hand, of the 64 jailed lawbreakers, 32 were described as Most Wanted Persons and the rest as Other Wanted Persons.
From January 12 to 18, the QCPD also arrested 76 drug offenders, 57 Wanted Persons, 52 illegal gamblers and 5 for violation of RA 10591.
Confiscated from the arrested drug personalities were an estimated P1.375 million worth of shabu and other prohibited substances.
During the period, 30 Top MWPs and 27 OWPs were also apprehended by the unit.
Col. Buslig said they have notified all concerned courts of the arrest of the wanted individuals.
