QCPD to continue drive vs loose firearms – Maranan
QUEZON City Police District (QCPD) director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan encouraged the public to support the ongoing campaign against loose firearms to maintain a peaceful and secure community.
According to Maranan, all the 16 police stations under his command were conducting “Oplan Katok” operations aimed at collecting undocumented guns supposedly kept by some individuals.
He asked the public to cooperate and surrender if they have in their possession unregistered firearms to avoid any problems once they are found to be maintaining them illegally.
Maranan said the QCPD made a successful completion of the 4th physical accounting and inventory of captured, confiscated, surrendered, abandoned, and forfeited firearms and ammunition.
A total of 998 firearms were collected through the “Oplan Katok Program.
The QC top cop highlighted the importance of this ongoing initiative as he tried to figure out how dangerous these firearms could be if they remained loose.
“QCPD remains dedicated to upholding its mission of protecting the community by strictly enforcing gun laws and promoting responsible firearm ownership. The public is encouraged to cooperate with ongoing operations like Oplan Katok to ensure the continued peace and security of Quezon City,” he said.
