QCPD highlights first 100 days of achievement
THE first 100 days of Colonel Melecio Buslig Jr. as Acting Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director have been marked with significant achievements highlighted by the decrease in crimes and the resolution of a kidnap-slay of a businessman that led to the discovery of a three-year-old case of a missing person.
According to the QCPD-Public Information Office (PIO), these accomplishments are the result of an intensified campaign against all forms of criminality under Buslig’s leadership guided by Metro Police Director Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin through the “triple A” (Able, Active and Allied) program.
The Able program prioritizes the enhancement of personnel capacities through appropriate training, education and welfare-oriented measures.
On the other hand, the Active program adopts an approach especially in the fight against illegal drugs and other legal infractions while the Allied program enhances coordination among the police, community and other stakeholders including non-government organizations to ensure order and safety in QC.
A proud member of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Kaagapay Class of 1996, Buslig’s style of leadership exemplifies dedication, innovation, and steadfast service.
During his watch, there was a significant decrease of 116 incidents, or 19.97 percent, in the total of 8 focus crimes, from 581 incidents between October 1, 2023, and January 8, 2024, to 465 incidents during his first 100 days in QCPD.
Key crime categories also showed notable declines where physical injuries decreased by 51.56 percent; rape by 32.26 percent, robbery by 28.57 percent; and theft by 20.08 percent.
With these successes, the QCPD achieved an impressive Crime Clearance Efficiency (CCE) rate of 98.92 percent, a reflection of the force’s diligence and effectiveness.
One of the most notable achievements under Buslig’s stewardship was the resolution – in just five days – a kidnap-slay case of a trader who was buried in a shallow grave in San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan.
Said case resulted in the discovery of a person who was reported missing three years ago.
These achievements were bolstered by advanced monitoring through the Integrated Command, Control, and Communication Center (IC3), strategic deployments in high-crime areas, and close collaboration with the QC Local Government Unit led by Mayor Joy Belmonte.
