ANTI-CRIME gains made by the Quezon City Police District yesterday were cited by National Capital Region Police Office chief, Brigadier General Anthony A. Aberin.

In particular, the Metro Manila police director mentioned the result of the conduct of a 3-day Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operation or the so-called ‘One-Time, Big-Time’ anti-crime drive by the QCPD headed by Colonel Melecio M. Buslig Jr.

The QCPD SACLEO from January 22 to 24 successfully targeted illegal drugs and gambling, loose firearms and wanted persons in the city amid the intensified security preparations by the entire Metro Manila police force ahead of the May 12 National and Local Elections.

Records showed that during the 3-day period, the QCPD conducted 25 anti-narcotics operations which led to the arrest of 41 target drug personalities and the seizure of 182.04 grams of shabu and 6.5 grams of marijuana valued at nearly P1.238 million.

Two electronic devices and P1,700 in suspected drug proceeds were also recovered during those anti-drug operations amid the QCPD’s comprehensive approach to combating drug-related criminal activities. The arrested 41 suspects are now facing criminal charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The QCPD also arrested three individuals each for possession of illegal firearms. All suspects are now facing charges for violation of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013.

The period also saw the QCPD accounting for 21 wanted persons hiding in the city, some of them facing major criminal offenses. Another 14 wanted persons in the city were tracked down and arrested by the QCPD outside the city amid their intensified effort to account for all wanted persons.

In their ongoing campaign against illegal gambling, operatives from the QCPD District Special Operations Unit, District Investigation Division and all of its 14 stations arrested a total of 28 individuals for illegal gambling activities and confiscated P13,908 in cash bets.

Brig. Gen. Aberin lauded the QCPD for its remarkable achievements, highlighting the district’s dedication to public safety and its alignment with the principles of Triple-A Policing or ‘Able, Active, and Allied’ Metro Manila police force.
