QCPD accounts drop of 8 focus crimes
THE Quezon City Police District (QCPD)’s enhanced police presence, implementation of 24/7 checkpoints and Task Force DART among others have contributed to a notable 13.91% decrease in crime incidents within the city over the past two months.
This was stressed by QCPD director Colonel Melecio Buslig Jr. saying that the rate of eight focus crimes – murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, theft, robbery, car theft, and motorcycle theft – have dropped from October 1 to November 30.
From the 309 incidents covering August 1 to September 30, a total of 266 incidents or a decrease of 43 percent were recorded during the October to November stretch.
Of the numbers, theft recorded the most significant decline from 132 to 114, a decrease of 18 incidents or 13.63 percent.
Buslig Jr. said that the police will continue using modern technologies in follow-up operations such as drones and closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras considering the high percentage of effectivity it brings in resolving cases.
He also cited Task Force DART which conducts Oplan Galugad and Bulabog for its share in the crime drop.
“Ito ay resulta ng ating pinaigting na anti-criminality operations na nakatutok sa preventive measures. Kabilang dito ang enhanced police presence, 24/7 checkpoints, ang Task Force-DART na nagsasagawa ng Oplan Galugad at Bulabog, at ang aktibong pagmomonitor gamit ang modernong teknolohiya tulad ng drones at CCTV cameras,” the QC top cop said as he commended his men in this latest achievement.
