QUEZON Representative Wilfrido Mark Enverga has been designated as legislative caretaker of the First District of Valenzuela, vacated by now Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rex Gatchalian.

Enverga, chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture and Food, is Gatchalian’s partymate in the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) and a friend for the last 16 years.

Earlier, Speaker Martin Romualdez said the legislative caretaker will be decided in the plenary upon consultation with Gatchalian and the NPC.

Meanwhile, Gatchalian welcomed the designation of Enverga and vowed to provide him the assistance he needed in fulfilling duties for the constituents of Valenzuela City.

“Valenzuelanos, 16 years ko nang kaibigan si Cong mark. Sabay kami na pumasok sa Congress noong 2007. Magkasama rin sa NPC na Partido. Magka edad kami, matanda lang siya ng isang taon sa akin. Mabait na kaibigan at masipag na public servant,” Gatchalian said in his social media post.

“Alam ko na aalagaan niya ang 1st District ng mabuti. Makakaasa po kayo na gagabayan ko siya sa issues ng District 1,” he added.
