THE Quezon City Police arrested a policeman who allegedly shot to death a man in front of a resto-bar in Quezon City on Tuesday.

Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, said on Thursday Pat. Edwin Rivera will be charged with murder and illegal possession of firearm after undergoing inquest proceedings before the city prosecutor’s office.

Rivera, 26, assigned at the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO)’s Regional Mobile Force Battalion, is accused of killing Chrismel Serioso following an altercation at the Spotlight Beer Bar and Cocktail Lounge in Barangay Novaliches Proper.

Also included in the complaint are Rivera’s companions, Joshua Balisalin and an unidentified man, who remain at large.

“Hindi namin kukunsintihin ang mga ganitong maling gawain ng pulis lalo na dto sa Quezon City,” Maranan said.

Reports said Rivera was drinking with his companions in the restobar when Serioso approached him at around 4:45 a.m.

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) spokesperson Lt. Col. Eunice Salas said Rivera had been drinking in the restobar since 10 p.m. Monday night.

Witnesses overheard Rivera accusing Serioso of selling him illegal drugs.
