THE Premier Volleyball League is plotting to open its second conference in October or November, this time in Metro Manila.

A cautious PVL president Ricky Palou, however, said that everything is hanging in the balance due to the COVID-19 situation in the Philippines.

If the second conference pushes through, Palou bared that they are looking to hold the tournament in a bubble set-up in the Big City.

“Gusto namin sa Manila pero bubble type pa rin. We’re looking at baka yung bubble type namin is kanya-kanyang teams,” said Palou.

The long-time volleyball official cited Sta. Lucia, which has a hotel nearby its company-owned mall in Cainta, while sister teams Creamline and Choco Mucho has their own quarters.

Aside from the players, the league’s working staff will have a quarters-venue-quarters set-up.

Palou said everything will depend on the recommendations of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) and the local government units involved for the PVL to hold its second tournament for 2021.

“Yun yung pinaplano namin but of course everything will depend on the IATF and the LGUs that are involved,” said Palou.

The PVL has just completed a month-long Open Conference, where Chery Tiggo took the bragging rights as the country’s first-ever professional volleyball champions in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.

Regarding the video challenge, the PVL is already looking for possible solutions so that the teams and fans can enjoy quality matches in the next conference.

“We feel that it’s a very important instrument that we should have in our games so this time around, we will make sure that we’ll get the video challenge,” said Palou.

The league was supposed to have a video challenge during the Ilocos Norte bubble, but logistical problems shelved the plan.
