PUP to host FESSAP archery event on Nov. 23-24
THE Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP) will organize the first Philippine University Archery League (PUAL) at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines oval field in Sta. Mesa, Manila on November 23 and 24.
The event will serve as the National Qualifying tournament to the 32nd World University Games in Germany scheduled in July 2025.
The two-day event comes after the Philippines’ successful participation in the 2nd Asian University Archery Championship held in Taipei, Taiwan.
Polytechnic University of the Philippines president, Dr. Manuel M. Muhi, has approved the FESSAP request to host the first PUAL, formerly the National Students Archery Championship which was held several times in Baguio City.
“We would like to congratulate Dr. Muhi who will be serving his second term as PUP president and thank him for hosting our archery competitions,” said FESSAP president Edwin C. Fabro.
FESSAP honorary vice president Christian D. Tan leads the organizing committee as chairman of the PUAL..
Tan’s PUAL’s chairmanship wa finalized through the confirmation of Fabro and FESSAP chairman Alvin Tai Lian.
The FESSAP Board also announced the appointment of of PUAL working committee members Robert Milton Calo, Cecille Sarmiento, Loren Balaoing, Allan Soria, Albert Andaya Jr., Romulo Raytos, Xyrille Kate Delima, and John Fred Dela Torre.
The PUAL working committee will coordinate with PUP Athletic Director Prof. Romulo B. Hubbard.
The Philippines, represented by PUP, will also be one of the leading participants.
Participating FESSAP regular members are PUP, Technological University of the Philippines, Tarlac Agricultural University, Tarlac State University, Nueva Ecija University, National University, University of Baguio, University of the Cordilleras, Benguet State University, St. Alexius College, Notre Dame, Mariners’ Polytechnic Colleges Foundation of Canaman (CamSur), Lorma College Inc., Bulacan State University and the Nueva Vizcaya State University.
