A MINDANAO lawmaker is now accepting scholarship applicants for various courses under the training-for-work program of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

The TESDA Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP) aims to continue filling up the skills gaps and job requirements of priority industries and sectors with high employment demand. The program forms part of the government’s ongoing efforts to expand the reach of quality technical and vocational education and training (TVET) to the grassroots and improve the employability of underprivileged Filipinos.

“TESDA has been very important in helping Filipinos upgrade, reskill and get decent-paying jobs. To keep up and create graduates with the necessary skills, we call on TESDA to constantly improve its programs and services,” Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte said.

Duterte’s office is seeking beneficiaries of the program with the following qualifications: must be 18 years old at the time the TWSP scholarship is completed and must be a high school graduate.

The following TWSP courses offered by Duterte’s Congressional District Office are Automotive Servicing NC I; Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC I; Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II; Health Care Services NC II; Computer Systems Servicing NC II; and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC II.

The said courses are available at the following institutions: Davao Institute of Technical Education, Inc.; Toyozu Technical School Foundation, Inc.; Efficio Training, Inc.; St. Patrick Math-Sci School, Inc.; and Core Institute of Technology, Inc.

Interested applicants may apply for the grant at the 1st Congressional District Office located at the corner of Ponciano and Palma Gil Streets, Davao City, and look for Loreto G. Masaglang. The applicants may also contact the following numbers: 09667510792 for Globe and 09683022613 for Smart.

TESDA encourages technical-vocational institutions to offer the TWSP with higher qualifications catering to in-demand industry requirements.
