PSC to hold Zumbarangay 2022
AFTER the successful Gintong Gawad 2022, the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), through the initiative of Chairman William Ramirez, launched the nationwide Zumbarangay Solo-on-Cam Challenge 2022.
The event is aimed at giving fanatics the opportunity to showcase their talents in Zumba, easily one of the most popular dance exercises among women and girls from all walks of life.
Zumbarangay is part of the PSC mandate and mission on Sports-for-All and Phyical Fitness in support of UNESCO (United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization) Charter, which provides for the practice of physical activities.
The dance competition has three categories: women open, girls open and LGBTQI+.
The winners in three categories will be announced after the Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam.
Chairman Ramirez and Women in Sports Oversight chairperson Commissioner Dr. Celia Kiram will award the prizes.
Participants must do Zumba solo and video records of their performances.
The solo exercises is subject to strict compliance to health and safety protocols.
Projected numbers of participants are 400 entries. Final judging in every level may be done in big halls or stadium.
Comm. Kiram said the PSC initiated the noble project precisely to give zumba fanatics the opportunity to showcase their hidden talents and encourage every Filipino woman and girl actively indulge in dance exercise even at home and maintain healthy lifestyle.
