TWO lawmakers suggested an investigation on the alleged involvement of former President Rodrigo Duterte and his family on @the hiding of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy within the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound in Davao City.

According to Manila Representative Joel Chua, the hiding of Quiboloy raises serious concerns about the integrity and accountability of those who have direct ties to this controversial preacher.

“I call on the appropriate authorities to investigate these ties thoroughly,” Chua stressed.

Chua pointed out that Duterte, serving as the administrator of the KOJC compound where Quiboloy was apprehended, cannot simply distance himself from this troubling situation.

Moreover, Vice President Sara Duterte’s previous statements downplaying Quiboloy’s presence in the compound now appear to be misleading, if not intentionally deceptive.

“Her assurances that Quiboloy was no longer within the compound call into question her credibility and suggest an attempt to shield the preacher from justice,” Chua said.

“Such actions, if proven, would not only obstruct the course of justice but also erode public trust in our officials. The arrest of a figure as controversial as Quiboloy, who faces serious allegations of human trafficking and other heinous crimes, should have been handled with transparency and cooperation from all concerned parties, particularly those in power,” he added.

Chua pointed out that the “father-and-daughter” direct connection to the KOJC compound makes it difficult to believe that they were unaware of Quiboloy’s whereabouts.

For his part, House Assistant Majority Leader Jil Bongalon said that it is not a remote possibility that former President may be questioned in court for allegedly harboring a fugitive like Quiboloy, who was arrested by authorities inside the religious sector’s place of worship.

The Ako Bicol Party-list congressman, who is a lawyer by profession, also explained that such designation is a fact, which was revealed by Quiboloy’s own TV network, Sonshine Media Network International, in March this year when the preacher started evading law enforcers.

“The former president can – I think – fit in the definition of an accomplice,” he pointed out.

Likewise, Duterte being a member of the Bar should know his law, according the administration legislator. “Being a lawyer also means being an officer of the court. Simply put, he should not be one who should be instrumental in the violation of the country’s laws.”

“It can even be a basis for a petition for disbarment, more so if it can be proven that he did this deliberately – it means not to serve the ends of justice, which is obviously an infraction of the law,” he explained further. “Remember, he – for all intents and purposes – was a former president.”

At the same time, Bongalon hinted that Duterte’s daughter, Vice President Sara, along with their good friend Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, can also be investigated, and even charged, for obstruction of justice for trying to divert policemen’s attention in serving Quiboloy’s warrant.

Quiboloy surrendered to the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP) within the KOJC compound. Upon his arrival at the Villamor Air Base from Davao City, Quibuloy was immediately transferred to the PNP Custodial Facility at Camp Crame.
