A POLICE seaborne patrol in Sacol Island in Zamboanga City on Wednesday resulted in the interception of three boat-riding persons who were found in possession of a sizeable amount of suspected shabu and an unlicensed gun, Police Regional Office 9 director, Brigadier General Ronaldo Genaro E. Ylagan told the Journal Group.

Arrested aboard a ‘Jungkung’ or a motorized boat in the coastal area of Sacol Island around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday were Zuiber Kamlian,48; and Adam Baduwi,44, respective residents of Tumalutap and Sacol Islands; and Ester Abdulgapar,46, a resident of Barangay Kasanyangan in Siasi, Sulu, the official said.

According to Ylagan, members of the Zamboanga City Mobile Force Company were conducting a seaborne operation in Tumalutap Island when they spotted the suspects and tried to signal them to stop for inspection.

However, the boat operator sped away prompting the lawmen to give chase until they managed to intercept the vessel in Sacol Island.

During an inspection, Kamlian yielded a bag containing a caliber .45 pistol with two loaded magazines and two -sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu.

Baduwi on the other hand was found in possession of a coin purse containing 28 small plastic sachets containing the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine while Abdulgafar yielded a big pouch found to be containing five plastic sachets with suspected shabu, a digital weighing scale, 15 empty plastic sachets, three improvised plastic tooters, a pair of scissor and two disposable lighters.

In a report to Philippine National Police chief, General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar, Brig. Gen. Ylagan said that the three suspects are now under the custody of the Zamboanga City Police Station 4.

The recovered pistol has been turned over to the Regional Crime Laboratory 9 for a ballistics examination to determine if it could have been used in the commission of any gun-related crime in the region. The seized drugs were also subjected to a chemical investigation to determine their quantity and quality.

Ylagan said that the recovered wooden watercraft was placed under the safekeeping of the 2nd Zamboanga City Mobile Force Company.
