PRO7 nabs CV top ‘drug peddler’

A TOP drug trafficker in Central Visayas was arrested by agents of the Police Regional Office 7 (PRO7) after selling ten kilograms of shabu worth P68 million to an undercover officer in Cebu City late Saturday afternoon, PRO7 Director Brigadier General Roque Edgardo Vega announced yesterday.

John Vincent Camion, alias “Justin”, 24, jobless, and a resident of Villa del Rio 1 in Talamban, Cebu City, is now facing a non-bailable case for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 o the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, the PRO7 director said in a report to Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Dionardo B. Carlos.

“We have finally arrested one of Central Visayas region’s most wanted drug traffickers following a lengthy surveillance,” said Brig. Gen. Vega.

The suspect was arrested in a drug sting at Saint Jude Acres in Sitio Tipolo in Bgy. Guadalupe 5:20 p.m. Saturday.

Members of the PRO7 Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, the Regional Intelligence Division 7, the Cebu City Police Station 9, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) were involved in the successful anti-narcotics operation, Vega said.

Confiscated from the suspect’s possession were ten kilos of shabu worth P68 million and the buy-bust money topped by several marked bills.

Vega said that the suspect is now being held at the PRO7 Regional Drug Enforcement Unit’s lock-up facility, where he is undergoing a thorough questioning.

“We are still in the process of identifying the main source of the huge volume of drugs seized from the suspect,” the Central Visayas police director said.
