PRO 7 cops bag 5 MWPs

POLICE Regional Office 7 (PRO 7) Director, Brigadier General Roderick Augustus B. Alba, on Friday, announced the arrest of five “most wanted persons” (MWPs) in Central Visayas amid their stepped-up anti-criminality effort ordered by Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr.

Alba said that three of the suspects are facing non-bailable criminal charges and have long been being sought by PRO 7 operatives to prevent the possibility they may commit more crimes in the region.

The official said that one of the suspects, a 56-year-old resident of Sitio Suwa in Can-oling, Dagohoy, Bohol was arrested on Thursday on the strength of a warrant for statutory rape issued by Judge Glenn Pergamino of the Talibon, Bohol Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 52.

Members of the Dagohoy Municipal Police Station (MPS) led by P/Lt. Renan Romulo tracked down the suspect in his hiding place, said a report from the Bohol Police Provincial Office (PPO) headed by Col. Lorenzo Batuan.

The 2nd MWP, a resident of Bgy. Pandan in Tubigon, Bohol facing criminal charges for rape and violation of RA (Republic Act) 7610 or the Anti-Child Abuse Law was arrested by local policemen led by P/Lt. Carl Jobel Lofranco past 1:0 p.m. last Monday.

Judge Leo Lison of the Bohol RTC Br. 3 recommended: “no bail” for the rape case slapped on the suspect.

The 3rd suspect from Bgy. San Isidro in Tagbilaran City, facing cases for two counts of rape by sexual assault and two more cases for lascivious conduct, was arrested last Tuesday by local policemen led by P/Lt. Justifino Hinlayagan.

Judge Lison recommended a P760,000 bail for the temporary liberty of the suspect.

The 4th MWP, a resident of Bgy. Northern Junob in Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental was arrested last Monday by the local police based on a warrant for the sale and possession of prohibited drugs under RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 issued by Judge Michael Mernado Jr. of the Dumaguete City RTC Br. 36.

No bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the accused, who was arrested by Dumaguete City policemen led by P/Lt. Col. Joeson Parallag.

The 5th suspect is a resident of Purok Kasadya in Bgy. Juno was also arrested on the same day by the local police on orders of Judge Mernado Jr.

No bail was also recommended for the temporary freedom of the accused, who was tagged as the no. 1 drug target in Dumaguete City before his arrest.
