A PREGNANT evacuee is the first confirmed COVID-19 case reported to the Provincial Health Office (PHO), based on the Event-based Surveillance and Response report released by the Balayan Rural Health Unit.

The Batangas Provincial Government assured the PHO in accordance with the instructions of Governor DoDo Mandanas, to assist the evacuees and supply the medical needs of those who will be found COVID-19 positive.

Due to the premature, one of the requirements is to undergo RT-PCR testing before being admitted to a health facility. A few days after the COVID-19 test, the result turned out to be positive, which is why isolation protocols and preventive measures should be taken immediately to prevent the spread of the disease in the evacuation area.

Meanwhile, according to the office, a senior citizen was the second confirmed case to experience symptoms of COVID-19, a week after he received the first dose of vaccine against the said virus.

The PHO said it will focus on comprehensive antigen testing in all temporary shelters of those affected by the resurgence of Taal Volcano activities.
