POSO chief, 2 companions survive ambush in Laguna
THE chief of the Public Order and Safety Office (POSO), his two companions and a bystander survived a gun attack by riding in tandem suspects Wednesday afternoon in Bgy. Bucal, Calamba City, Laguna.
Initial reports identified the targetted victims as POSO head Jeffrey Rodriguez, his driver Jonar Comendador and his police escort PCpl. Ronnel Balimbing.
A bystander, Angie Lorenzana, 34, was hit by a bullet in the body during the ambush which occurred around 5 p.m.
Reports said the Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) Chief was on board in a white Toyota Hi Lux when they were attacked while crusing along a highway in Barangay Bucal in front of Letran College.
Police said victims were on their way to a clearing operation.
The bystander was hit when a Balimbing tried to shoot it out with the suspects.
Rodriguez who was seated at the back of the vehicle remained unharmed.
Calamba police are still investigating the motive and identities of the victims.
