Police visibility
THE government acknowledges that police visibility plays a crucial role in maintaining peace and order across the Philippines.
Aware of this, PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil has ordered all police stations to conduct more patrols to boost visibility.
We share the view of Marbil that police visibility ensures a rapid response to calls for help from the people, notably in the countryside
“We are committed to making our communities safer by ensuring a strong police presence in public places,” said the hard-hitting Marbil.
President Marcos had earlier ordered the national police agency to further reduce the number of index crimes in the country.
Focus crimes or index crimes include theft, physical injury. rape, robbery, murder, homicide, motorcycle and vehicle theft, the PNP said.
Non-index crimes are violations of local ordinances and road mishaps, which continue to claim the lives of motorists, passengers and pedestrians.
In his directive, the PNP chief said 85 percent of all police personnel should be actively involved in field duties, particularly foot patrol.
As well-meaning Filipinos, we cannot also overemphasize the importance of strenghtening police-community relations.
Walang mangyayari sa atin kung hindi magtutulungan ang kapulisan at taumbayan, lalo na sa mga malalayong komunidad.
