CABANATUAN CITY – Police in this city seized more than 10,000 worth of firecrackers and pyrotechnics found being sold without the necessary permits while another operation in Jaen led to the confiscation of six pieces of the locally-made boga (improvised cannon).

City police head Lt. Col. Renato C. Morales said joint intelligence operatives from the city and the provincial police office conducted an ocular inspection on a makeshift stall along the road fronting the 7-11 convenience store in Bgy. Mabini Homesite which was reportedly selling illegal firecrackers.

However, two men said to be manning the stall immediately fled upon seeing the approaching lawmen, abandoning their merchandise.

Seized were 370 pieces of baby rocket (kwitis), 35 pieces of assorted fountains and 100 pieces of sparklers worth about P10,000.

In Jaen, police head Maj. Ernesto V. Esguerra said his men conducted an operation against illegal pyrotechnics in Bgy. Niyugan and confiscated six pieces of boga worth P300 at 7:20 p.m. Thursday.

The seized illegal firecrackers are now in the custody of the police for proper disposition.
