A 20-year-old man allegedly serving as a police informant was shot dead by a lone gunman Sunday evening in Pasay City.

John Paul Camacho of 1573 Vitales St., Brgy. 164 Malibay died on the spot from bullet wounds in the head while the suspect immediately escaped on foot, along with his lookout, towards the corner of Dimasalang and Vergel Streets passing over Tramo going to EDSA Rotonda.

Report reaching the office of Southern Police District (SPD) Director P/BGen. Jimili Macaraeg showed that Camacho, after taking his dinner, went outside to buy a cigarette at around 9 p.m.

While walking along P. Rivera St. Brgy. 116 Zone 14, on his way home, the suspect approached him from behind and shot him thrice in the head at close range, killing him instantly.

A tricycle driver identified as Aldrin Gonzales, 26, who witnessed the incident, immediately informed the victim’s relatives about the killing.

Pasay police homicide investigators P/MSgt. Alfredo Aquino and P/Cpl Alfred Pangilinan, of Investigation and Detective Management Section (IDMS), said elements of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered three empty shells for caliber .45 pistol from the crime scene.

Police believed that the suspect was involved in the illegal drug trade since the victim allegedly served as a police asset for drug cases.
