
POC taps Aguilar, Caringal as deputy CDMs
THE Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), headed by president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, is adding experience to the Filipino delegation to the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China next month.
Alvin Aguilar, president of the Wrestling Association of the Philippines, and Donald Caringal, secretary-general of the Philippine National Volleyball Federation, have been appointed by Tolentino as deputy chefs de missionin the multi-event competition scheduled Sept.23-Oct. 8.
“The task of the CDM’s office in Hangzhou is not an easy one, considering the size of our delegation and the competition venues,” said Tolentino in a statement sent to People’s Tonight Tolentino said the two additional slots for deputy CDM was offered to the POC by the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee.
Aguilar and Catingal will now j oin sepak takraw head Karen Tanchanco- Caballero and ice skating chief Nikki Cheng as deputies to chef de mission Rep. Richard Gomez of fencing and modern pentathlon.

Also the head of the cycling association, Tolentino said the Filipinos are expected to perform well in Hangzhou, the third Chinese city to host the games after Beijing (1990) and Guangzhou (2010). is l
In Hangzhou, the competitions are spread over 44 venues primarily at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Expo Center and in Deqing, Jinhua, Ningbo, Shaoxing and Wenzhou.
