A STRING of anti-narcotics operations conducted by agents of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) since last May has resulted in the neutralization of scores of “high-value targets,” and the seizure of over P200 million worth of shabu and other illegal drugs, PNP Officer-in-Charge (PNP-OIC) Lieutenant General Vicente D. Danao Jr. said on Saturday.

“These major anti-narcotics accomplishments are in line with our continuing all-out ‘war versus drugs’ thru the conduct of more intelligence-driven operations across the country aimed at accounting for more high-value individuals,” said the top cop.

Lt. Gen. Danao lauded members of the PNP-Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) headed by Brig. Gen. Randy Q. Peralta and the 17 Police Regional Offices (PRO) for their major contributions to the stepped-up campaign against illegal drugs ordered by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

Since last February, the PNP-DEG under Peralta has already confiscated almost P800 million worth of shabu and other dangerous drugs while sending to jail dozens of wanted drug personalities as a result of their intensified manhunt operations versus persons ordered arrested by the court for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

One of their major operations last May 22 led to the arrest of three “HVTs” and the confiscation of 12 kilograms of shabu worth P81 million in Valenzuela City.

Another sting on the same day in Bgy. Balibago in Angeles City, Pampanga, resulted in the recovery of 10 kilos of shabu worth P68 million.

Last May 26, another suspect was arrested after claiming a parcel containing more than a kilo of shabu worth P7.4 million was delivered by an undercover officer in Malolos City in Bulacan.

Last Wednesday, PNP-DEG personnel confiscated another kilo of shabu from a drug trafficker in Matandang Balara, Quezon City. On the same day, the unit agents arrested another man in Malabang, Lanao del Sur, after he sold a kilo of the drug to a poseur buyer.

Another operation in Parañaque City resulted in two HVTs being arrested after they conspired to sell a kilo of the same drug to an agent.

Last Monday, combined agents of the PNP-DEG, the Q.C. Police District headed by Brig. Gen. Remus B. Medina and the PDEA conducted a buy-bust operation along Pook Arboretum Road in Bgy. UP Campus in Diliman, Q.C. led to the killing of two armed drug dealers.

NCR Police Office (NCRPO) Director Major Gen. Felipe R. Natividad said that the slain suspects, identified as brothers Ronnie and Jay R Montoya, yielded 10 kilos of shabu worth P68 million, the buy-bust money, a caliber .45 pistol with five live ammunition, and a spare magazine with seven bullets.

The QCPD impounded two cars belonging to the suspects.

On the same day, Lt. Gen. Danao said that two HVTs were arrested in a sting in Bgy. 5 in Lucena City after selling more than P500,000 worth of shabu to a cop.

Last Tuesday, Southern Police District operatives under Brig. Gen. Jimili L. Macaraeg arrested a 34-year-old HVT who yielded nearly P335,000 worth of shabu in New Lower Bicutan in Taguig City.

SPD Drug Enforcement Unit agents also smashed a drug den in Bgy. New Lower Bicutan on the same day. Four suspects were arrested during the operation which netted some P285,000 worth of shabu, two cal. 45 pistols, a cal. .22 pistol, several loaded magazines, and assorted drug paraphernalia.

“Time and again, I have always taken pride in the continuing and unwavering effort of our police operatives under the intensified campaign against illegal drugs with a focus on the arrest of drug personalities which reflects our untiring commitment to serve and protect our communities from the lingering threat of this social menace,” Lt. Gen. Danao said as he congratulated his men for their anti-drug accomplishments.
