THE Philippine National Police on Friday received from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office over P11 million which will be used to procure new medical supplies and other equipment of the PNP Health Service.

PNP chief, General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr. personally received the check amounting to P11,149,559.87 from PSCO chairperson Junie Cua and general manager Melquiades Robles during simple ceremonies at Camp Crame.

The amount represents the PNP’s share from the gross proceeds of the PCSO operations of the Small-Town Lottery.

“Today’s turnover of donations marks another milestone for the PNP in providing the needs and welfare of our personnel, especially on health care services. This donation will certainly go a long way in enhancing police capability,” said the top cop.

The PCSO explained that 30 percent of its revenue goes to charity, 55 percent for prizes, and 15 percent for its operations. All balances of any funds in the PCSO will form part of its charity fund.

“This amount will be used for upgrading the equipment of the PNP Health Service to enhance the quality of healthcare services to its personnel and dependents,” Gen. Azurin added.
